Reading Rooms

Reading Room

In the Reading Room you can use:

  • books and periodicals stored in the Closed Stacks,
  • microforms and microfilms,
  • CDs and DVDs,
  • PhD dissertations from UW Repository (please contact the Repository editorial section first – email: rezpozytorium.buw@uw.edu.pl, phone (48 22) 55 27 139).

Members may also use the copying machines.

Opening hours:

  • Monday – Saturday 9 am – 9 pm
  • Sunday – closed.

Attention! From 4pm, 8 November until 25 November, the Reading Room will be closed.

The Regulations for accessing collections at the Reading Room:

  • Orders to the Reading Room shall be placed through the UW Libraries online catalogue.
  • If you have not found the desired item in this catalogue, we advise you to use the scanned card catalgoue BUW – CKK.
  • Form, mode and time of delivery from the closed stacks
Form of ordering:
  • Request option in the online catalogue
  • Order in the Web Card Catalogue option
Order processing mode in July and August 2023:
  • orders placed from Monday to Saturday by 8 pm – are carried out on the same day
  • orders placed from Monday to Friday after 8 pm – are carried out on the next day,
  • orders placed on  Saturday after 8 pm  and on Sundays – are carried out on Monday.
Order processing time:
  • from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

 

Current Periodicals Reading Room

Periodicals and newspapers from the current year are available in the Reading Room.

Opening hours:

  • Monday – Sunday 0 am – midnight

In the Current Periodicals Reading Room readers may use:

  •  current issues of scientific journals, arranged thematically. Periodicals coming to the Library are made available until the first issue of the following year is received, whereas the previous issues are transfered to the Closed Stacks or to the Open Stacks,
  • current official journals, central, Warsaw and regional press as well as foreign press.
