Physical resources

The borrowing limit for PhD students is 20 books for up to 90 days.

How to borrow

If the University of Warsaw Library does not have a book or a journal you need, please, use:

• the Interlibrary loan service,
• the Warsaw Reciprocal Borrowing Programme BiblioWawa,
• the NUKAT catalogue (the Union Catalogue of Polish Research Library Collections) and find a book or a journal in the libraries indicated in the catalogue.

Online resources

See:

• the Multisearch tool (our search and discovery tool) to find e-books or articles from e-journals. Please, remember, that the Multisearch tool provides an integrated search of electronic resources and UW libraries online catalogue. If you are looking for electronic resources only, you need to confine your search results to electronic resources,
• the List of e-journals (Full Text Finder) to find e-journals,
• the E-book search tool to find e-books,
• the UW Libraries Online Catalogue to find e-books available for Kindle readers,
• the ProQuest Dissertations and Theses A&I database (see Online databases),
• DART Europe,
• EBSCO Open Dissertations,
• the University of Warsaw Repository to find PhD theses,
• Online databases to use a particular database.

The Multisearch tool, the List of e-journals (Full Text Finder), the E-book search tool and the UW Libraries Online Catalogue are also available on the homepage of the Library. 

If we do not have an ebook you need, you may use the Demand Driven Acqusition (DDA) service.

Training and support

If you would like to learn more about how to retrieve publications or use full-text databases, we encourage you to register for our training courses. We offer training in:

• information sources and search tools,
• databases offered at the University of Warsaw.

Study space

The Library offers study space with wifi: select BUW.Hotspot network or use Eduroam.

You may also book an individual work booth. 

Tools

Use:

• the computers with access to MS Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and LibreOffice to write research papers

• the bibliographic manager tool Mendeley,
• guidelines for writing a PhD Thesis.
