The latest events are available here.
“21 springs” is a series inspired by the aesthetics of a mistake in photography. Self-portraits tell about searching for oneself and exploring one’s own boundaries. The author consciously used the exceptional imperfection and the non-obvious nature of the photography medium to tell a personal story. Collection of works was established between October 2020 and April 2021. It tells about the stage of growing up, being “in between” which is why the photos most often appear as diptychs. It indicates the nature of duality which we always carry within us, although we are not aware of it.
The series of photographs “21 springs” is the practical part of the diploma “Double nature of soft focus. Image blur as a means of expression in photography ”. Bachelor’s thesis major in journalism and media studies – press, advertising and publishing photography has been done under the supervision of PhD Paweł Żak.
“The age of 21 in many countries means full achievement of maturity. Entering adulthood is the beginning of an exciting new path, but also of increased fear of the unknown. It’s high time to look inside yourself and answer the question – who am I? “21 springs” is my time of searching, wandering, learning to deeply understand myself. ” – Julia Januszyk
